As Chief Creative Officer, Marcus leads argo’s delivery teams across the Austin, New York, Amsterdam, and Munich studios, setting the vision and continuing to define new paradigms in product strategy and design delivery. Drawing on nearly 30 years of industry experience from within product teams and at design agencies, Marcus has led an array of product design initiatives to create and deliver throughout his career, working with some of the world's leading companies along the way, including Microsoft, AT&T, Sam's Club, Under Armour, and Intuit.
At the start of his career in the mid-90s, Marcus was neck-deep in the pioneering startups that peppered the Seattle landscape, immersed in then-emerging web technologies in a software dominant landscape. In the 2000s, Marcus landed at Microsoft, where he spent 7 years, first as Creative Director for MSN Entertainment & Video properties in the midst of the portal wars. Understanding product making in an engineering environment, with a user-centered focus, as well as delivering on monetization and business goals, Marcus helped grow MSN in a competitive landscape. When the opportunity came to lead the Zune.com experience, he recognized and delivered on the customer and business opportunities to convert it from a marketing site into a functioning product experience within the Zune ecosystem.
As Creative Director at frog design in Austin, Marcus led the reimagining and design of Intuit Quickbooks Online, helping to build one of the first brand-imbued design systems of the early 2010s. Also at frog, Marcus led the early digital transformation of Bridgewater Associates, helping to establish and codify the distinct Bridgewater culture and brand essence into digital tools and experiences. Marcus' ability to translate brand across interfaces and customer touchpoints continued as he returned to product-team life as Senior Creative Director at Under Armour, providing product strategy, design, and brand direction across a suite of hardware and software products in Under Armour Connected Fitness, including MyFitnessPal, and MapMyRun.
Prior to his current role, Marcus spent nearly 6 years as Head of Creative in the argo Austin studio, working closely with founder Mark Rolston and creative and business leaders to drive and grow the business.
